Alicia Ruiz Mason, 85 of Rogersville passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, surrounded by her children. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 9th, from 6-8 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 10th, 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Athens, with Father Tom V. John officiating. Ryan Nesmith will be delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Dean-McNairy Cemetery, Rogersville, AL.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Siegel, Benjamin Siegel, Daniel Mason, Ryan Nesmith, Keith Nesmith and Mark Chapman.

Alicia was born in Zaragoza, Spain to Juan Manuel Ruiz Zorrilla and Pilar Ruiz-Bazan Andres. After marrying her husband of 56 years, she moved to the United States in 1961 with her husband and infant daughter. She was a devout, life-long Catholic and member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Athens. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family and friends, excelling as a homemaker who loved caring for her family, home, and garden. She was an accomplished seamstress and talented cook, with a passion for history, geography, and different languages.

Alicia was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Ray Mason; son, Richard Ray Mason; parents, Manuel and Pilar Ruiz; and sister, Pilarin Alvarez.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Mason Siegel, Carol (Keith) Nesmith, and Norman (Mark Chapman) Mason; daughter-in-law, Susan Jackson Mason; grandchildren, Nick (Sara) Siegel, Ben (Courtney) Siegel, Daniel Mason, Savannah Nesmith, Shelby Nesmith, Ryan (Carly) Nesmith; great-grandson, Brodie Siegel.

Alicia is also survived by her brother, Manolo Ruiz-Bazan; sisters-in-law, Judy Box, Judy Mason; brothers-in-law, Donnie (Martha) Mason, James Mason, Tommy Mason, Bobby (Diane) Mason, Dearl Belue; and numerous nieces and nephews.
