Alice Simmons Statom, 90, of Florence, passed away September 22, 2020. Alice will always be remembered in Cloverdale where she lived her entire life and raised her family. Alice married her high school sweet heart, J.P.; they were married over 70 years. After finishing Business College she worked in the shoals area as office manager for several different corporations. Leaving the work force in the mid 70’s to become a stay-at-home mother and raised her family. Through the years Alice was always involved in the community activities at her church, Liberty Baptist. In the early years the PTO at Cloverdale Junior High School, Ladies Auxiliary at the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department, American Cancer Society and many others. Alice was a wonderful cook and artist. She loved to paint and she shared her love of painting with many others throughout the shoals area teaching painting classes. The apple of her eyes was her three grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, and Garret. As the old saying goes, “down the path and through the woods to Nana’s house we go.” They lived next door to their Nana, not a day would pass that they didn’t spend time with their Nana so she could do her job and spoil them.
