Alice P. West, age 91 of Columbia, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Alice was born March 3, 1924 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Clara Burr Field and Harold E. Field. She was married to Emery D. West, who preceded her death in 1961. Alice worked as the City Clerk in Royal Oak, Michigan where she retired after 13 years of service. She was also the Co-owner with her husband of Westfield Floor Covering in Berkley, Michigan. She loved to garden and mowed her own yard until she was 86 years young. Alice was active and independent and kept up with all current events. Alice was a very active member of Westminster Presbyterian and Westminster Presbyterian Women’s Group.
Alice is survived by her son, Michael West; daughter Kathryn West (George) Whittaker; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Emery D. West; son Gerald K. West; and daughters JoAnn West and Patricia West Solocinski.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Fund.
