Alice Neal Roberts – Obituary

Alice Neal Roberts, age 80, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Monday, July 03, 2017 at her residence.  She was born September 3, 1936 in Matthews, NC.  She was a retired school bus driver, a retired Dollywood employee, a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a member of Meadow View Baptist Church.  She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and dessert.  She loved dessert!

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, John Rayford Richardson and Jennie Pearl Spittle Richardson, her brothers, Aaron Richardson, Samuel Richardson, Everett Richardson and Raymond Richardson; and her sister, Naomi Ward.

Alice is survived by her husband, Marvin Roberts, Sr., Lawrenceburg, TN; two sisters, Imogene Privatte, FL and Mary Dean, AL; two sons, Marvin Roberts, Jr., Gaines, MI and John Roberts (Lisa), Lawrenceburg, TN; two daughters, Sharon Kinsey, Bethlehem, NC and Jennie Wood (Rick), Lawrenceburg, TN; ten grandchildren, Lisa Nicholson (Nate), Waterford, MI, April Carter (Will), Greensboro, NC, Audrey Paladino (Michael), French Camp, MS, John Roberts (Jessie), Greeneville, TN, Leslie Holmes, Hickory, NC, Alice Parish (Aaron), Wilmington, NC, Mandy Reed (Josh), Dayton, OH, Trisha Roberts, Lawrenceburg, TN, Christina Williams (David), Greeneville, TN, and Carrie Roberts, Greeneville, TN; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Abigail and Julia Carter, Greensboro, NC; Matthew and Daniel Holmes, Hickory, NC; Haley, Anna, Jacob, and Aiden Parish, Wilmington, NC; Matthew, Brandon, Devon, and Dustin Roberts, Greeneville, TN; Jayce Roberts, Lawrenceburg, TN; Madison, Ian, Connor, Charlotte, and Lemi Paladino, French Camp, MS; Jack and Samuel Nicholson, Waterford, MI; and Eli and Miles Reed, Dayton, OH.

Alice is known for her laughter, her smile, the way she adored her husband, and her gentle sweet spirit.  Nothing can compare to her fried chicken, homemade biscuits, and “Grandma’s green beans”!  She was a great cook, the most-fun-mom in the neighborhood, and the nicest bus driver in the Lincoln School district and the Dollywood Theme Park!  She loved her jobs, but most of all she loved her family.  She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known and loved her.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 06, 2017 at Neal Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Friday, July 07, 2017, with Charles Gresham and Jimmy Nave officiating.  Interment will follow at Bumpas Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.  Family requests memorials be made to Unity Hospice.
