Mrs. Alice Faye Burns, age 86, of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Burns was born May 26, 1937, in Amory, MS, to the late Frank and Etma McClendon.  She worked as a welder at Emerson and owned a restaurant.  Mrs. Burns enjoyed spending time with her family and playing guitar with the Country Friends Band.  She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Durwood Rogers and Don Burns; three brothers, Clayton “Bill” Haskett, Erbie Lee “Poke” McClendon, and William Commie “WC” McClendon; two sisters, Aleen Thornton and Janie Walden; and one granddaughter, Andrea Ponds.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 2, at 11:00 AM, at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with Bro. Glen Hughes officiating.  She will lie in state at the church 10:30-11:00.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00-8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Marlin West, Ted McGee, Ross Gunnells, Jessie Gunnells, Luke Kelly, and Lee Kelly.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of Country Friends Band.

Survivors include two sons, Eddie (Cindy) Rogers and Frankie (Susan) Rogers; one daughter, Cynthia (Jerrel) Baker; one step-son, Marty Burns; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kathy) Rogers, Joshua Rogers, Katie Rogers, Courtney (Jemerey) Lay, Brittany Ponds, Matt Chism, John Baker, George Baker, and Louisa Ramfos; and four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey “Manzo” Rogers, Kaitlyn Rogers, Orin Lay, and Amos Lay.
