Mr. Ali Deylami, 71, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully on Friday, December 24, 2021. Born in Gorgan, Iran, Ali pursued his international studies in England and later immigrated to the United States over 40 years ago where he was enrolled as a student at Michigan State University. He later transferred to Western Michigan University where he graduated with his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Nezhat Nancy Deylami, children, Amir, Omid, Nadia, and Deanna, and grandchildren, Alexandria, Zamira, and Micah.
Growing up as the first-born of nine children, Ali was a leader within his family worked on the family farm as a young child. He helped provide for his parents and family throughout his childhood and had a true enjoyment for agriculture and food, which later reflected in his gardening skills and tasty kabobs he made for his family and friends throughout his entire life. Ali met the love of his life through a hunting trip that was coordinated between his father and what became his future father-in-law. Once he laid eyes on Nezhat, he remained seemingly persistent until he finally engaged and married the Tehran native, “city girl”, in 1980.
Their married life started in Tehran and later transitioned to the United States as they pursued the “American Dream”, landing in Huntsville, Alabama where their close relatives began to settle. He owned and operated family businesses, consistently turning them around into successful operations. After seven years of trying, they were excited to introduce their first-born, Amir, into the world. They would bring Omid and Nadia into the picture over the next five years and just when they thought three kids was the magic number, they revealed a pleasant surprise, Deanna, as “God’s gift” to the family. Ali worked tirelessly as a provider of his family and sacrificed so much to give them a quality of life and a platform to one day pursue their own dreams.
Ali was known for his glowing and infectious smile. He was a gentle and caring soul and got along with anyone God put in front of him. After being plagued with Parkinson’s disease over 22 years ago, he always kept a positive attitude – fortified by his inner-strength and will – and never revealed any complaint or issue to anyone, even until his last day. He continually would tell his family “I feel fantastic!” and “Thank God for today!” – he was the most positive, graceful, and caring person who really loved life. Nezhat was his number one person and caretaker through all the struggles. Great appreciation goes to her for her undoubted sacrifice and for enabling his extension of life over four times the original doctor’s expectations – she will always be his silent hero.
Ali was, and is, loved by so many individuals, from all walks of life. His heartwarming laugh will be something we will never forget. He clearly showed his love and care for his wife, children, and grandchildren, as they showed their utmost love and respect to their “Poppa” as well. Ali leaves this earth with so many great memories and is now smiling down on his family from Heaven.
Visitation will be at Berryhill Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 12:00-1:30pm, with chapel service at 1:30pm. Burial will take place at Huntsville Memory Gardens. The Deylami family appreciates your continued prayers during this time.
