Mr. Alfred Lee HerefordAlfred Lee Hereford was born September 20, 1940, in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late Willie Walter and Mattie Lee Hereford, who both preceded him in death.

On September 21, 2023, he passed away at his home. He was preceded in death by his sister Catherine McDonald.

Alfred confessed hope in Jesus Christ at an early age. He later joined Phillips CME Church. He worked as a painter for the Huntsville City Schools and Housing Authority. After retiring later, he served as the Church Custodian for 11 years. On September 27, 2015, a retirement Luncheon was given to him for the 11 years of dedicated service.

He loved his church and singing in the male Chorus. His favorite interest was making driftwood designs. His pass time entertainments were watching westerns.

He is survived by his children: Alfred Jerome Hereford (Delores) and Saundra Davis (Dwight); brother: Willie Hereford; seven nephews, special grandson: Marcus Lay (Sharetta); special friends: Rosetta Sales and Alton Hodges; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Phillips Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (2185 Winchester Road NW, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Reverend Dr. Gregory Scott officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Mr. Hereford will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2023, and 8:30 until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
