Mr. Alfred B. “Doog” Sherrod, 84, of Florence, passed away May 25, 2013, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Greenview Funeral Home followed by the service at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Kelby Smith and Barry Gilreath. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mr. Sherrod was born Aug. 25, 1928, to the late Alfred B. Sherrod Sr. and Tera Thompson Sherrod. He was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ and a retired car body repairman.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were his son, Don Sherrod, brother, Tim Sherrod, and sister, Jane Sharpson. Survivors are his wife, Betty J. Lovelace Sherrod; sons, Michael and Larry W. Sherrod, all of Florence; brother, Charles Sherrod (Judy), Muscle Shoals; and sister, Ann Laurie Fuller, Birmingham.
Pallbearers will be Derrell Pollard, Randy Byrd, Matt Hupel, Jimmy Lovelace, Jimmy Morrison, and Jr. Byrd.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Mann, Gentiva Health Care, Mitchell-Hollingsworth and Hospice, and Dr. Anthony Kalliath at the cancer center for the care given to Mr. Sherrod.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Jackson Heights Church of Christ.
