Funeral service for Alford Floyd Griffis, Jr., age 81, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Chandler officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Griffis, who died Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born January 4, 1932, in Decatur, to Alford Floyd Griffis, Sr. and Katie Inez Smith Griffis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Childers Griffis.
He is survived by one son, David Griffis (Jennifer) of Decatur; one daughter, Brenda Weatherspoon (Doug) of Decatur; one sister, Vivian Jewel Golden of North Richland Hills, TX; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
