Alena Irene Montgomery Shoemaker, 101 years old, Moulton, Alabama passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at NHC, Moulton, Alabama.
She was born on September 1, 1913 in Lawrence County to Robert Pryor Montgomery and Lillie Irene Bragg Montgomery.
She served the Lord faithfully as a Sunday School teacher in the 4-5 year old children’s ministry at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 50 years, where she touched many lives. She was a much loved lady who lived for the Lord and her family. She was married to James Shoemaker for 69 years, before his death in 2003. She was proud of her family having five generations for over 9 years.
Visitation will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, March 14. 2015 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Funeral Service at 3:00 pm with Dr. Thomas Whitlow officiating with music by grandson Drew Whitlow. Burial will be at Shoemaker Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband ; and brothers, Wallace, Lovis, and Marion Montgomery.
Survivors include daughter, Faye Gonzales and husband Dickie; two granddaughters, Cindy Millien (Jun) and Cherrie Whitlow (Tommy); five great grandchildren, Corey Parnell, Clint Parnell (Kristi), Tad Parnell (Megan); Emily Wadkins (Michael) and Drew Whitlow, six great great grandchildren, Emma Wadkins, Madelyn, Ty, Ella and Harper Parnell, and Preston Parnell.
Pallbearers will be grandsons , Corey, Clint, Tad Parnell, Michael Wadkins and nephews, Mark Montgmery and Bob Montgomery. .
