ALEA Make Arrest In Hit-And-Run Death Of Bicyclist In Cullman County

HARPERSVILLE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued a press release concerning the arrest of a Harpersville man who has been charged in the death of bicyclist Dakota Lamons:

“On Monday, November 13, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit (THI) located and arrested Ryan J. Jolly, 36, of Harpersville. 

He was charged with Manslaughter and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Death.  The arrest is a result of a single-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday, November 9, at approximately 6:46 p.m., in Cullman County, when bicyclist Dakota R. Lamons, 19, of Hanceville was struck and fatally injured by a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jolly, who left the scene.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”

A single-vehicle crash involving a bicyclist that occurred at approximately 6:46 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, has claimed the life of a Hanceville man.  Dakota R. Lamons, 19, was fatally injured when the bicycle that he was operating was struck by a vehicle.  After the initial impact, Lamon was thrown off the bicycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The vehicle left the scene and the exact vehicle type, as well as the driver is still unknown.  The crash occurred on Alabama 91 near Cullman County 501, approximately eight miles south of Hanceville, in Cullman County.  Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate. 

 

The vehicle is believed to be a 2007-2014 white Chevrolet Silverado or a GMC Sierra with the entire passenger side black mirror missing from the vehicle.  Anyone with information on the vehicle and/or incident should contact ALEA Troopers at 256-353-0631.
