MONTGOMERY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) on Friday, Jan. 8, donated 38 ballistic vests to the Muscle Shoals-based non-profit organization Armor of God Project. Since 2009, Armor of God Project has distributed more than 7,600 used ballistic vests to law enforcement agencies throughout the country and world.MONTGOMERY
Secretary of Law Enforcement Spencer Collier said, “Law enforcement professionals serve in dangerous environments — and some smaller agencies do not have the budget to purchase ballistic vests. We are excited to participate in this worthwhile program by donating 38 vests to Alabama-based Armor of God Project.”

“Law enforcement agencies typically replace ballistic vests every five years. While the manufacturer warranty may be expired, it does not mean the vests will not work properly to protect users,” said Armor of God Project Founder Clint Reck. “It would be ideal to have a newer vest at all times for each law enforcement officer, but a used vest is better than no vest.”
Armor of God Project recycles used ballistic vests donated by larger law enforcement agencies and provides the used ballistic vests, free of charge, to officers across the nation, and other parts of the world, in need of such protective gear.
Secretary Collier said he hopes the donation will help this organization further its mission. “We are eager to assist in any way possible to protect our law enforcement partners across the state, the nation, the world.”
