Albert Wayne Haddock went home to Jesus on August 24, 2024, while his loving daughter held his hand.
Albert was born in Florence, Alabama on April 13, 1951, to Hazel and Harold Haddock. Until 2020 when he moved to Evans, Georgia to be closer to his daughter and her family, he had lived his entire life in Florence. His time in Georgia was happy and he enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and to be able to play a round or two of golf with them. That time was just too short.
Albert was predeceased by his parents, and he is survived by his daughter Robin Brogdon (Vince), grandsons Dylan and Logan Brogdon of Evans, GA; his sister Shelia Klein (Herb) of San Antonio, TX, nephew David Klein of Fairfax, VA; numerous cousins; and his loving furry companion of the past three years, his dog Hank.
He retired as Production Manager at E.S. Robins in 2015. Though he never thought of himself as such, he was a very gifted person. There was nothing he could not fix or make better; he never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with someone and before long he knew their entire history – he was that easy to talk to. He loved to travel and made memorable trips to England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy and Switzerland and celebrated his 50th birthday with a trip to Sturgis, South Dakota. However, he was always happy to get back home to Alabama. He loved nothing better than catfish and would volunteer monthly at the Central Area Volunteer Fire Departments’ Swamp John’s Fish Fry fundraiser. And he would never turn down a good Waffle House breakfast.
The family wishes to thank Deb and Cleve Miles of Florence for their love and support to Albert for so many years. He was “Uncle Albert” to Marty and Greta Erwin, Britton Brown and Jordyn Erwin; Carrie Faires and Leah Marshall; Jeb and Kristy Miles, Josh and Melissa Miles and their sons River and Gunner Miles and Flint, Scout and Wyatt Box; and members of the Apger family.
The family also wishes to thank Visiting Angels of Augusta for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held at Cloverdale Church of Christ in Florence, Alabama on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 am.
Donations in Albert’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
