Albert “Mutt” Clifton Bowers age 89 of Athens, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at Tut Fann Veterans Nursing Home. Mr. Bowers was born October 16, 1925 in Limestone County, AL to Clifton C. Bowers and Bithey Gates Bowers.
Services will be Friday, September 18, 2015 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with David Cox and Warren Glass officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Bowers was a member of Market Street Church of Christ and a former Elder. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Navy, and avid fisherman, card player, woodworker and enjoyed traveling.
Survived by his wife, Frances Bowers of Athens; two daughters, Gloria Hardison Hall and husband, Dr. Charles Hall and Kathy Bowers Hardy and husband, Darrell of Cocoa Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Lara Hall Malone, Sarah Hall and Melanie Hall Williams all of Athens; seven great-grandchildren, Abigail Malone, Hayley Malone, Nate Malone, Tyler Pierce, Ethan Pierce, Madeline Williams and Tessa Williams; two sisters, Ozell Vining and Louise Tucker both of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Market Street Church of Christ.
