Alan Nichols, 51, of Readyville, TN took his final ride on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Traveling alone to Indiana on his newest Harley, he unexpectedly was given an offer he couldn’t refuse. He met his new riding brothers, received his new patch, reunited with his best friend David, and is now forever riding free above the clouds just past where we can see.
Alan was a hull technician (HT) in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Shenandoah. While enlisted he served in the Gulf War and Desert Storm. When he left the Navy he and his family moved to Tennessee where he would spend the rest of his day here on Earth. A skilled welder by trade, he worked every day and then came home – where he could normally be found watching football or NASCAR or outside building something, getting ready to head out on the bike or boat, or just sitting on the porch in his favorite rocking chair smoking and talking to the dogs or his grandkids. His loud, brazen, unfiltered, politically incorrect, unapologetic ally ways meant laughs and good times were wherever he was, and friends were never in short supply. He was the perfect combination of the all American hard working patriot and the classic tock rebel bad boy. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
Alan is survived in death by his only daughter, Jessica Nichols and her mother Tina Nichols; stepson Jeff Christy; his father Bob Nichols; his sisters, Alexis Nichols and Cindy Friend and her husband Sean Friend and their children Noah, Haley, and Megan; his grandchildren, Noah, Haley, and Megan; his grandchildren, Jordyn, Mayzie, and Evelynn; uncle Rob Nichols and his wife Karen Nichols and their children, Mindy and Josh; his beloved boxer Apollo; temperamental horse Holly; and his talkative cat Smokey.
He is preceded in death by his mother Karen Nichols and best friend David Weaver.
His memorial service will be held at Woodfin Chapel in Murfreesboro on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm with the service at 5:00 pm, officiated by Elizabeth Sharp.
