Alan Daniel Disabato, 74, entered his peaceful heavenly home after his battle with cancer on Monday, September 25, 2023.
He was born in Altoona, PA to the late Columbus and Sylvia Disabato on June 21, 1949.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly and three grandchildren, Isabelle, Ethan, and Aliya. His surviving family of his loving sister, Christine (Larry), Nathan (family), nieces, nephews and spouses/children of: Shawn, Chad, Shane, Ryan, Quint, and Ross, as well as many cousins, aunts & uncles.
Alan was born in Altoona, PA and raised in Blue Island, IL with his parents, sister, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved his parents and sister dearly and enjoyed family gatherings with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, & cousins.
Alan began his adult career in the United States Air Force. In 1973, he began a career in respiratory therapy. He had a huge heart for his pediatric respiratory patients like they were family. He carried their memories with him past retirement.
In today’s technology age, he was a rare one who still enjoyed opening a book and completing a good crossword puzzle. Watch out at trivia night because he was a star!
Alan was one of the biggest Chicago White Sox fans ever! He was an avid sports lover having played tennis into his college years. He didn’t miss a baseball or football game if he didn’t have to!
Music definitely heals the soul. In his younger years, he was in a band where he sang and played the accordion. Yes, the accordion! He had a gift for writing and playing music. Those that knew him and especially at American House Assisted Living, will recall his ability to spread music throughout the hallways! Think of him as you hear The Bee Gees,” Stayin’ Alive” as it brought so much joy & a smile to his face even until his last days.
He adored his daughter and grandchildren. He was one their biggest cheerleaders & enjoyed watching them perform throughout the years, playing Scrabble and UNO with them.
His sweet smile and bright eyes will be greatly missed and cherished.

Alan will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
