Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association tournament held in Colbert County

COLBERT COUNTY-Riley Underwood and Mason Wright, of Briarwood Christian Bass Club in Birmingham won Saturday’s (April 20)  Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association tournament that was held on Pickwick Lake by catching four smallmouth and one largemouth bass weighing a total of 19.62 pounds.

Easton Cummings and Seth Hall of Phil Campbell Bass Anglers were second with 19.22 pounds. Chandler Holt and David Scharf of Briarwood Christian were third with 17.49 pounds. John Day and Hayden McCarty, of Corner High School, with 17.43 pounds and Jordan Martens and Sadie Stanford , of Brianwood Christian, with 15.93 pounds, rounded out the top five.

Hunter Griffin and Christopher Clark of Muscle Shoals Trojan Bass Anglers won the junior division with a 12.82-pounds catch.

Brianwood Christian was the top team in the tournament, Muscle Shoals was second and Phil Campbell was third.

The tournament, which was sponsored by Colbert County Tourism, attracted 204 boats from 41 schools throughout Alabama. Adult boat captains piloted the boats for the student anglers.

The tournament launched from Riverfront Park. The weigh-in was held at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in Tuscumbia.
