TUSCUMBIA-Repairs are finished on the event stage at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. The stage was previously rented out for concerts and corporate events, but its condition had deteriorated over the years.
“We’ve had dozens of inquiries about using the stage over the past few years,” said Dixie Griffin, director for the Hall of Fame. “The stage has already been used to host two events. We’re excited about the prospect of it being in use again. It will be good to hear music and see people out there again, plus it’s been a valuable revenue generator for us in the past.”

The repair process took just under two months from start to finish, and involved replacing and reinforcing paneling around and on the stage. The loading ramp, and snake channel have also been replaced. “The stage was structurally sound,” said Bruce Crowden who handles maintenance at the Hall of Fame. “Most of the decay was superficial, thankfully. We’ve also had it painted with a weather-resistant mix.”
The restoration was done under the guidance of the Hall of Fame’s skilled and experienced volunteers, as well as the Tuscumbia Utilities Department. “Larry Lewis and J.R. Jones have been instrumental in making this go smoothly. We have some exceptional volunteers out here,” said Griffin. The paint was donated by the Muscle Shoals Lowe’s home improvement store, and was applied by James and Anthony Speegle.
