MADISON COUNTY – At approximately at 2:15 p.m., Monday, March 18, at the request of the Alabama A&M University Police Chief, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting. The incident occurred on the campus of Alabama A&M University in Huntsville after an officer with campus police encountered an individual with a firearm in the
stairwell of one of the residence halls. Gunfire was exchanged between the individual and officer. The individual, who is a student at the university, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment, however, the officer was not injured during the course of the incident.
Currently, there are no known threats on the campus of A&M University in Huntsville. Nothing
further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned
over to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
