DECATUR – The Alabama Bass Trail in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority will host a lake cleanup day on Pickwick Lake Saturday, September 6th through its Service Hours Grant Program. The cleanup efforts will be an opportunity for high school and collegiate fishing teams to receive a $500 grant from the Alabama Bass Trail. The cleanup scheduled for Saturday will be held at McFarland Park in Florence from 7 to 11 a.m. with weigh-in beginning at 11 a.m. and lunch served at the conclusion of the program. Teams can choose to stay on the bank or they may bring their boats to the event. All participants must wear closed toe shoes and are encouraged to wear their tournament jersey and jeans or shorts. The Alabama Bass Trail’s Service Hours Grant Program offers a $500 grant to high school and collegiate bass clubs that produce 250 hours of conservation work each year. Each team participating will receive service hours credited toward the Service Hours Grant Program. In addition, the top three teams that weigh in the most trash at the cleanup day will receive a cash prize. First place receives $300 with second place and third place both receiving $200. All teams/coaches must register to participate in the shoreline cleanup project by sending an email to kay@alabamabasstrail.org with your team name and how many will be attending.
