Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) attended the Department of the Army’s award ceremony, hosted by the Honorable Patrick Murphy, Under Secretary of the Army, to congratulate the Alabama Army National Guard, Team Redstone, and their community partners as 2016 recipients of an Army Community Partnership Award.

The award, given to five U.S. Army installations and neighboring communities, recognizes successful partnerships that have resulted in improved readiness, energy efficiency, and cost savings.

Congressman Brooks said, “Alabamians have much to be proud of today as Team Redstone and the Alabama Army National Guard took home two of the five inaugural 2016 Army Community Partnership Awards.  In a time of budget constraints, these partnerships between Army installations and local agencies have fostered growth across Alabama and provided important cost savings for the state and the Department of Defense.”

Brooks continued, “For those from North Alabama, the Redstone Arsenal’s 2016 Army Community Partnership Award will come as no surprise.  I am immensely impressed with the successful collaboration of Redstone with the City of Huntsville, Madison County, State of Alabama, and the Tennessee Valley Authority to enhance readiness for our military personnel.”

COL Tom Holliday, Garrison Commander, Redstone Arsenal stated, “Redstone Arsenal is striving to become the ‘garrison of the future.’‎  We cannot reach that goal without our friends and neighbors of the Tennessee Valley.  The partnership we enjoy is beneficial to the Army, but goes beyond the fence line of our post.  This community is an example of what can happen when people work together… they can achieve anything.”
