Adrian Terrell “Ajax or Jack” Johnson

Mr. Adrian Terrell “Ajax or Jack” Johnson, 76, a resident of Bigbyville Road, died Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Casey Derryberry officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

 

Born on September 3, 1945 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Adrian Leamon Johnson and the late Martha Kimbrough Johnson. On August 24, 1968 he married Linda Faye Fannin Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from Union Carbide where he was a Grade A welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching drag racing, line dancing, clogging and spending time with his family. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club and the Muletown Stompers and Volunteer Forge. He was the Chief of Mynders Volunteer Fire Department from 1974 – 2011 until his health began to decline but he remained Captain until his passing. Mr. Johnson was of the Baptist faith.

 

In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his daughter, Gwen (Chris) Jett of Culleoka; grandson, Ethan Jett (Feather Alsup) of Culleoka; brother-in-law, Wayne Lentz of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Harold & Era Dell Johnson and sister-in-law, Frances Fannin Lentz.

 

Pallbearers will be Eddie Liggett, Mike Jett, Randy Walters, Willard Murphy, Jimmy Campbell, John Churchwell, and Wallace Rich. Honorary pallbearers will be Freida & Harry Parish, Salene Walters, Sue Campbell, Donna Murphy, Jerry & Betty Johns, Johnny & Pam Farmer, David & Carolyn Cheek, Linda Pilkinton Hill, Tim & Wanda Clark, and members of Mynders Volunteer Fire Department.

 

The family suggests memorials be made to the Maury County Fire Department 1116 West 7th Street Suite A Columbia, Tennessee 38401 and The Kidney Foundation 73 White Bridge Road Suite 103-225 Nashville, Tennessee 37205.

 

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Anuradhe Mann, Fresenius Dialysis Clinic and doctors and ICU staff at Maury Regional Medical Center.
