Adrian “Rudy” Antonius Wray – Obituary

adrianFuneral for Mr. Adrian “Rudy” Antonius Wray, 44 of Trinity will be 2:00pm, Saturday, September 20, 2014 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur with the Reverend Tracy Seltzer officiating and the Reverend Herbert Cartwright Jr. host pastor.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Inhumation will follow in Decatur City Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Thursday from 2-7 and Friday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mr. Wray was born on December 20, 1969 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Theodore McKinley Freeman and Climbetta Wray Freeman. Adrian completed his earthly journey on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at his home in Trinity, Alabama.

Adrian who was affectionately known as “Rudy” by his family and friends received his formal education in the Decatur City Schools and was a 1987 graduate of Austin High School where he played football, basketball and track.  Upon graduation he attended Jacksonville State University and Murray State where he excelled as an athlete in football.  He was self-employed as a contractor in Decatur, Alabama for more than 10 years until he became disabled.

Rudy was united in holy matrimony to Angela Wray Cater.  He was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He accepted Christ at First Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama at a young age.   He later united with Moulton Heights Missionary Baptist Church where he was on the Brotherhood and was a great financial supporter of the church.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Theodore “Pete” McKinley Freeman and nephew, Brandon Fuqua.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Angela Cater Wray of Trinity: two daughters, Courtney Langford of Huntsville and Adriann Wray: one son, Ason Wray both of Trinity: his loving mother, Climbetta Wray Freeman of Decatur: one grandson, Mason Green of Huntsville; one sister, Sallie Caudle of Madison; three brothers, Antwan McKinley Freeman of Decatur, T.R.(Jeanette)  Freeman Jr. and David Lee (Marveline) Freeman both of Madison; sisters-in-law, Alicia Watkins and Angela Mosley both of Decatur:  aunts, Mattie (Charlie) Jefferson of Chattanooga, TN, Clydia Ryans, Peggy Jean Gilbert, Mattie Mae Miller all of Decatur and a host of faithful cousins, other relatives and friends.

Flower Bearers will be Freda Campbell, Latasha Garth, Peggy Evans, Gloria Deloney, Evangeline Banks and Starria Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Petty, Marvin Woodruff, Marlon Hood and Tracy Watson.

Pallbearers will be Jerald Langford, Ricky Mason, Mario Campbell, James Allen, Carlos Green, Marlon Swinney, Jock Taylor and Dewayne Campbell.

The family would like to give special thanks to Alacare Home Health for their excellent care rendered to Rudy.
