Adreene Hewitt Wainscott – Obituary

ArdeeneAdreene Hewitt Wainscott passed away on December 8, 2013 at the age of 94.
She was born in Easterday, Kentucky on May 23, 1919, the daughter of Virgil and Nettie Hewitt, and grew up on a farm and later in Carrollton, Kentucky. She married Harold Wainscott in 1941 and had two children in their long, happy marriage. After Harold served in the United States Army during World War II, they settled in Carrollton where she began work as a Floral designer. They moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1958 where she spent the rest of her working life working as a florist. Adreene was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church since 1960 where she was a devoted and active member. She pledged much of her time to teaching Sunday School and serving in the Women’s Missionary Union. A deeply religious woman she gave much tireless service to her church and the community, especially charity work. She worked for Meals on Wheels, served on the board of the Huntsville Rescue Mission and she was a president of the Alabama Business Women’s Association. She will be missed by many she helped over the years. Adreene was predeceased by her husband of sixty-eight years, and her sister Gertrude.
She is survived by her two children, Netta Shannon and Ronald Wainscott, as well as six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday December 16, 2013 at 12pm in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville. Burial will follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on that day from 11am until 12pm at the funeral home.
