adeca-logoMONTGOMERY-With the Labor Day holiday coming up, law enforcement officers are getting ready to put in overtime to keep roads safe during thePrint “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. Each year, ADECA administers grant funding that pays for overtime expenses for the extra patrols during the “Drive Sober” campaign. This year, ADECA is administering $200,000 in grants to support 96 Alabama law enforcement agencies. The funding is made available by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has budgeted $56,000 to support efforts of state troopers during ‘Drive Sober.’ ADECA’s Bill Whatley said the overtime grants are an important part because they allow law enforcement to put more officers out on patrol on Alabama’s highways on and near peak travel periods like Labor Day. “We’re a team here and we all have one goal, and that is to save lives,” Whatley said.
