Mr. Add Jordan, Jr. Early on the morning of June 15, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital, Add Jordan found eternal peace and returned home to his heavenly father.

Add Jordan was born on May 11, 1943 to the late Add Jordan and Gracie Ragland Jordan. Although he was not the eldest son of Gracie and Add Jordan, his name was passed down from his father and grandfather.

Add grew up in the Tenth Cavalry Hill community where he was affectionately known as “Boozie” or “Boo Cat”. He attended Winston Street, Councill Training and Calvary Hill Schools. For many years, he was a professional laborer in the masonry trade working alongside his brother, Savoy, and others. He was a faithful member of Madkins Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served on the Usher Board.

As a devoted and loving brother, he was regularly called upon to serve as the family historian. He could recall family and friends’ names and numerous details of their lives; as well as describe how the extended family was connected. Gratefully, he kept us up to date with our long-distance relatives namely in: Louisville, Kentucky; Cleveland, Ohio; Buffalo, New York and Detroit, Michigan.

His hobbies and pastimes included reading American and World history, travelling to Washington DC to visit museums, monuments, and memorials. Regularly, he read many of the inscriptions on the wall and came out quoting President Roosevelt. Add thoroughly enjoyed reading newspapers, magazines, and his set of World Books of Encyclopedia. Additionally, he loved watching westerns such as Gunsmoke, talking on the telephone and visiting with friends, family, and neighbors. Add’s easy-going personality afforded him the ability to make and maintain friendships over the span of his lifetime.

While he was an all-around sports’ fan, his favorites were Major League Baseball and college football. (favorite college team was Alabama Crimson Tide). He knew coaches, managers, and players by name, as well as the players’ positions and the intricate details of rules and plays.

Add was preceded in death by his father, Add Jordan and mother, Gracie Ragland Jordan; grandmother, Ethel Love Jordan; brother, Joe Louis Jordan; niece, Gloria Ann Battle; nephews: Barry Mitchell, and Lynwood Butler; and great nephew, Ronnie Lee Cawthorn Jr.

Add leaves to cherish his memory his lifelong partner, Amanda Bradford and special niece, Pamela Whaley (Anthony); sisters: Earline Butler of Louisville, Kentucky, Eunice Stewart of Fort Washington, Maryland and Christine Lee (Clifford) of Haymarket, Virginia; brothers: Milton Mitchell of Louisville, Kentucky, Savoy  Jordan and Earl Jordan of Huntsville, Alabama; nieces: Carolyn Mitchell of Louisville, Kentucky, Cynthia Rice (Phillip), Harriett Cawthorn and Annette (Marcus) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Beverly Schulterbrandt (Sherwin) of Perry Hall, Maryland; nephews: Savoy Jordan Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama, Dexter Jordan (Debbie) of Louisville, Kentucky and Timothy Battle of Haymarket, Virginia.

Additionally, Add has a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins for whom he cherished. We all love you and will miss you immensely. “Boo Cat”, rest easy and we will see you in heaven. As you like to say, “Sure you right.”

Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Madkins Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America (2403 Oakwood Road, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Reverend Debra McGlathery-Holden officiating.
