Adam Isaac Hildenbrand, aged 26, passed away in his home in Chicago, IL on August 17, 2022.
Born in the deep green humidity of Tupelo, MS, Adam carried a warmth with him and made genuine connections everywhere he lived, worked, and visited. He graduated from Tupelo High in 2014, followed by moving to Starkville and then Oxford, MS. After moving to Chicago in 2016, he truly flourished in the life of the city, the close friendships he made, and the space to be more fully himself. He attended nursing school at Malcolm X College and graduated as the valedictorian of his class in 2020.
Adam was artistic, intelligent, hard-working, hilarious, generous, and always authentic. He saw and heard people that were overlooked, fought for justice, was a champion for the underdog, radiantly himself, brutally honest, a protector, a mentor, and the most kind hearted cynic. To know him is to know love, and we are taught to love deeper knowing his loss.
Left behind to share Adam’s lasting legacy and memory are Adam’s parents; Amy and Phillip Counce; three younger siblings, Emma, Leland, and Luke Counce; grandparents Robert “Gus” and Brenda Hildenbrand; beloved cat, Dorthia; and a multitude of friends.
A service to honor Adam will be held at Holland Funeral Directors at 1 PM on August 19, 2023. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to service time.
