It is with great sadness that the family of Adie Stroud announces her passing. She died peacefully on September 7, 2023.
Born and raised in Ardmore, Tennessee, Adie spent most of her adult life in Decatur, Alabama. She was the elder daughter of two children; her sister was Sarah Whitt Bailey (deceased). She was the daughter of Amos and Willa White Whitt.
Her early working career was with Chemstrand/Monsanto. Once her youngest child started high school, Adie started her second career as a bank teller in both Ardmore, Tennessee and later Decatur at Colonial Bank/Bank Independent, where she retired in 2008.
Adie married Howard Clark Stroud (deceased) in 1968. She was a loving mother to Howard’s two daughters, Carol Jean Stroud and Sabrina Stroud Roberson. In 1970 they gave birth to a son, Michael Thomas Stroud.
She was the grandmother of three and the great-grandmother of three.
In life, she was an artist, lover of music, an accomplished pianist, and the most amazing cook. She was a very faithful woman, being a previous member of Ardmore United Methodist Church and a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Adie lived a long, fulfilled life and will be greatly missed by her three children.
An intimate graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 10 a.m. at the Blanche Cemetery, 1657-1661 Ardmore Highway, Taft, Tennessee. Donations in Adie’s memory may be made to the United Church of Huntsville or the organization of one’s choice.
