Ada Ruth Matthews, 93, of Sheffield, died Friday, December 15, 2017. Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. Her service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bill Siegel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield.
Ms. Matthews was a retired Secretary to the Superintendent of Sheffield City Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sheffield, a member of the Certified Professional Secretaries Association and the Alabama Education Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Matthews; parents, Lee and Eva Widener and grandson, Jason Embry.
Ms. Matthews is survived by her daughters, Sandra Lynn Embry, Rhonda Kay Willis and Evalee Mary Stone (David); sister, Alberta Wilson; grandchildren, Michael Embry, Chad Willis, Jennifer Clement, Brooke Thomas (John), John Colagross, Jr. (Brea), and Britney Schneider (Michael); and 6 great grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheffield Education Foundation.
