Ada Pauline Atkins – Obituary

Ada Pauline Atkins of Selmer, TN was born April 28, 1929 in Chester County, TN the daughter of the late Freeling and Blanche Armstrong Hughes.

She was united in marriage to Mail Atkins in April of 1947. Mr. Atkins preceded her in death on April 18, 2006.

Mrs. Atkins was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Selmer. She worked for Brown Shoe Company and later as a cook for different restaurants in Selmer. She loved cooking for family holidays, taking care of her grandkids, and going to church. She truly had a heart of gold.

She departed this life on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at her home at the age of 83 Years, 5 Months, 27 Days.

Mrs. Atkins is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Atkins-Jones and husband Eric of Chicago, IL, Casaundra Atkins of Selmer, TN; four sisters, Mary Hearn of Chicago, IL, Gena Mae Hughes of Chicago, IL, Cora Mae Conley of Kenosha, WI, Rosie Westbrook and husband Clay of Selmer; six grandchildren, Tavares Atkins of Selmer, Charles Atkins, Jr. and wife Destiny of Chicago, William LaShun Damron and wife Nakesha of Atlanta, GA, Jerren Clark of Selmer, Tamara Knight and husband Allen of Selmer, December Reed of Chicago, IL; eight great grandchildren, Dania, Martez, Deonte, Robyn of Chicago, IL, Aniya, Darrien, Zhy of Selmer, and Liyah of Milwaukee, WI. A host of aunt, nephew, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by two sons, Charlie Aaron Atkins, William Earl Atkins; five brothers, Pop (Weldon) Hughes, Bennie Hughes, Amos Lee Hughes, James Hughes, Bill Bo Hughes; a grandchild, Jarvis Clark.
