MONTGOMERY-On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, three Academy Sports + Outdoors locations in Alabama will host holiday “Shop with a Cop” events for children living at Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches throughout the state. During the events, conservation enforcement officers with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) will accompany the children on a $200 shopping spree courtesy of Academy Sports + Outdoors.
The Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association (ACEOA) will also donate an additional $1,000 in Academy Sports + Outdoors gift cards per ranch to cover any incidental purchases the children may need
throughout the year.
The Shop with a Cop events will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Academy Sports + Outdoors locations in Florence, Montgomery and Foley. The media is invited to cover the events; however, some photography restrictions may apply.

Natural Resources and Academy Sports + Outdoors to make sure our ranchers have a wonderful Christmas,” said Michael Smith, Chief Executive Officer for the Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches. “We are so thankful that they have a heart for young people in crises. This kindness truly shows how much our state government and Academy Sports care about the young people of Alabama.”
“I appreciate Academy Sports + Outdoors and the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association for providing these kids with such a generous opportunity during the holidays,” said Chris Blankenship, ADCNR Commissioner. “We hope that through positive experiences like this one our enforcement officers are seen as role models for Alabama’s youth. My desire to work in conservation came from positive encounters with Marine Resources conservation officers on Dauphin Island when I was young. You cannot underestimate the effects that experiences like this may have on a person or community.”
