Abbey Rose King, 24, a loved member of the Tupelo, MS community, passed away peacefully at her home in Lee County, MS on the morning of February 24th, 2024. Abbey Rose was born on July 8th, 1999 to Jeff and Cindy King. She was born in Jackson, MS, began her life in Brandon, moved to Smithville, MS at the age of five, and spent most of her childhood at Smithville K-12 and was cherished by many peers and teachers in the community. Then, moving to Saltillo in 2010, she was quickly enveloped lovingly by the community and involved in Challenger League Sports and Special Olympics. Throughout her entire life, she was involved in various Down Syndrome Societies and groups and worked to promote and celebrate inclusion. Some of her favorite hobbies included listening to country music and attending concerts of her favorites, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton, going to movies, going out to eat, and reading up on movie stars. Most of all, she brought joy and light to any room she walked into. She loved and was loved fiercely.
Abbey Rose is survived by her parents, Jeff and Cindy King; sister, Lily Cate King; paternal grandfather, Hugh King; maternal grandparents, Pamila Ross (Mike Ross) and Doug Brown. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Betty Lou King; paternal great-grandparents, Phillip and Louise Thomas; maternal great-grandmother, Imogene Hust and her special caregiver,
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, February 26, 2024, in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors – Tupelo with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 AM to service time. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at 10 AM at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/live-streaming. A graveside service will follow later in the day at 4 PM at Melrose Baptist Church Cemetery in Bentonia, MS.
Pallbearers will be Jeff King, Hugh King, Stacy King, David Brown, Coach Jim Gunter, Chick King, Elijah Platt, Jon Paul Rhea, and Kirk Wilburn. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their family.
