Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans,
MUSCLE SHOALS – A week has passed since the execution style murders and yet Muscle Shoals Police say they do not have a person of interest identified. Last Sunday morning at 2:20, Gary Wayne Baskins, 25, of Florence and his companion, 23-year-old Kayla Ann Glover of Killen were killed in front of Jody’s Restaurant on Highway 72.
Baskins was shot 8 times. Glover was shot once as she was fleeing the assault. Autopsy results have not yet been made public.
In a media conference this afternoon (Monday), Police Chief Robert Evans emphasized that his department is working diligently to run down every lead in the case, of which Evans said there are a large number.

I don’t think the husband of Kayla would like to see her listed as Gary’s companion…. There maybe unspoken things but this is not the place to tell…. Leave that business as is…..

All I am saying is tragic loss of life the question is why was a wife and mother was out at 2am with another man who happens to be an ex con? Very odd place to be is all. Pray for the children and husband and that the murderer is caught.
Friend or not. it had to be a very trusting man to let his wife be out on a saturday night with a family at home. Either way this was a very gruesome murder and it is scary to know that there’s someone in the Shoals that would shot a man eight times in the head without worrying about being seen. I do not understand that nine shots were fired and no one came out of Jody’s to see what is going on. What will the end of this tragedy bring?
This is a sad situation there r babies left without parents a husband left without his wife and nobody wants to come forward. If u did see or hear n e thing plz come forward because n e little bit of information could help find the person or persons who did this. Think about if this were your family member. Just remember God will reveal all
Oh I think jodys know who did it no way they heard all the fussing and gun shots and not see anything a person of interest I think the cops are not dumm they will hit it on the spot for long they not telling it all. I pray a arrest will be made soon for both family’s closer. You know jodys resturant has cameras they need to just give their selves up.

I have not read anything that was bad in any way about this tragic event. They parked in front of Jody’s and with those big windows no one saw anything. It.s scary to know that someone is still out there that obviously did not care if they were seen or not. As for the young lady we just wonder why she was out that late with another man and not home with her family. She must have had a very trusting husband and if the guy that got shot lived in Florence why was he in a hotel in Muscle Shoals?? So many questions without any answers. I mean open your eyes people, it’s not everyday that something like this happens and just because we are not family or friend we want to keep ourselves and our family safe and want this person caught, even tho there was a reason that someone just drove in Jody’s and put a gun to the young mans head and I do not imagine it was legal. God bless the families but if it was someone else you would be asking the same questions..

You people who think she was such a bad person for leaving her husband and going put on a Saturday night have no clue what your talking about. They were seperated. He was seeing another woman. He had the kids that weekend bc she had to work. Don’t judge people unless you know the whole story.
Please have enough respect for each family to not come up with your own assumptions. Yes there are unanswered questions but those unanswered questions do not pertain to anyone except the families. So have some respect for these mourning families and their friends and do not try and piece together your own story.

Amen Rita.. the only question we should be asking is where is the killer of these 2 young people…the rest of the story is none of our business…no matter the answers THEY DIS NOT DESERVE TO LOSE THEIR LIVES!!!!
He done his time for his past so it don’t matter what his past was r what he done r did they still didn’t desever there life taken over no reason r cause by no means so they can stop downing Gary Haskins n Kayla Glover how about know them personally n then say something besides negative vs they both are good people with great hearts n would do anything they can for anyone n he might done things but nobody r no-one perfect in this world how about praying for our family’s enstead running them in the ground and help our family get justice for Gary n Kayla because this world so cruel n evil n they never knew there life was going be taken away from them that morning and I don’t believe r think neither one seen it coming are knew it was going to happened to them so pray n not be negative just because someone past help find the killer r killers n get them justice rip Gary n Kayla
