A reporter got turned around trying to get out to Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant because of confusion over Browns Ferry names roads. The reporter suggested I send out this email to help others who may be confused.- Holly Hollman

athens mapATHENS-Brownsferry Street (called Brownsferry Road once it is in the county) runs basically north and south between the heart of Athens and the nuclear plant. Typically it is Brownsferry Street in the city limits and Brownsferry Road in the county, but locals may refer to it as either. It is spelled as one word.
Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road runs east to west from County Line Road through Tanner, where it meets Brownsferry Road and ends. With this road name the Browns Ferry is two words. Further confusing the issue is that once it crosses County Line Road into Madison County, it is referred to as Browns Ferry Road.
I hope that is clear as mud.
A couple of other areas I get questioned about occasionally, especially if we make reference to these area because of road makerpower outages:
Peete’s Corner is the intersection of Mooresville Road and Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road. Peete has 3 e’s.
Tanner Crossroads is the intersection of U.S. 31 and Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road.
The Thach the community, Thach Road and Oak Grove-Thach Volunteer Fire Dept. all spell the word Thach with 1 T and that is at the beginning.
The Goodpsrings community in West Limestone is one word.
