snowMONTGOMERY–In preparation for winter weather across Alabama, Governor Robert Bentley on Saturday placed several key state agencies on alert and urged Alabamians to get prepared for a wintry mix that may include ice, freezing rain and snow beginning Sunday

“With winter weather expected to impact Alabama, we are taking

precautions to protect Alabamians,” Governor Robert Bentley said. “I have alerted key state agencies to begin preparing now for anticipated severe weather winter. Alabamians must also prepare and stay winter aware as weather conditions may change unexpectedly. We will actively monitor the storm as it begins to hit the state and are prepared to respond to any requests for assistance.”

“Citizen preparedness is the key to minimizing the risk first responders face if the situation becomes dangerous,” AEMA Director Art Faulkner said. “Alabamians should have an emergency preparedness kit in their vehicle in case travel is necessary while winter weather is impacting the state. AEMA will be ready to respond if needed.”
