A.J. Gray – Obituary

A.J. Gray, 79, of Florence, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home after an extended illness. He served 6 years in the Army Reserves. He was a retired farmer and then later retired from Tee Jays Manufacturing Company.

The graveside ceremony will be held September 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.in Greenview Memorial Park with Brother Gerald Montgomery officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olen and Myrl Gray; sisters, Susie Hill and Frances Marks; nephew, Danny Hill and niece, Laura Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret May Gray; daughter, Sherry Carpenter (Ronnie); grandchildren, Jana Risner (Wesley) and B. J. Carpenter (Kailey); great-grandchildren, Bryce, Seth and Maddie Grace Risner and Braysen and Carley Jo Carpenter; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be B.J. Carpenter, Wesley Risner, Mark Marks, Les Hill, Greg May and Joey May.

Ronnie Carpenter will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Mann, Dr. Robert Bailey, Dr. Alvin Sago and Dr. Gerald Haggstrom for the kind attention and care that they provided. We would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the love and care they provided especially, Stephanie, Rosa, Joloyce, Kyle and Kourtney.
