A J Carter of Toney passed away on Wednesday.  He was 89.  Mr. Carter lived his entire life in the Toney community and was loved and respected by his friends, neighbors, and loved ones.  He passionately loved his family and was known as the patriarch and protector of the family.

Mr. Carter had owned and operated his own construction company and had built many homes in the community.  He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Linda, who he loved dearly. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be remembered for his kind heart and for putting others before himself.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Linda Joyce Wray Carter; his brothers, Ralph “Nick” Carter and Tommy Carter; his parents, Alvie & Lena Carter.

Surviving family members include his sister, Pam (Doug) Hensley; his sister, Hilda Hethcoat;  his brother, Alton (Kay) Carter;  his brother, Donald (Evelyn) Carter. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12PM until 2PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 2PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Watts officiating.  Burial will follow in Madison Cross Roads Cemetery.
