A great ole soul, Pauline Farley Tharp met her Creator from The Meadows in Fulton after three years of declining health. She was 84 years old. Known by most as Polly, she was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on August 28, 1939 to the late John Albert Farley and Flora Tingle Farley Sykes. She lived much of her adult life in the Okolona/Houlka area where she made many friends along the way. A Baptist, Polly spent her working life as an upholster in furniture factories including Futorian, Action Industries, and Fortune Furniture Mfg. Polly enjoyed people and her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed riding in the country, watching TV Soaps and news, gospel and country music.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Friday, Sept. 8, 2023 from the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Kenny McGill officiating. A graveside service will follow in East Chickasaw Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 AM-service time on Friday only.
Polly is survived by her daughter, Patsy Halcomb (John) of Houlka; her son, William Jerome “Jerry” Tharp (Carolyn) of Tupelo; 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Hudson Pennington (Lance), Allen Jerome Tharp, and Montana Jade Tharp; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Joanne Davidson of Amory; a brother, James Albert Farley of Peppertown; 2 brothers-in-law, Ben Tharp (Linda), and Sam Scott; and a host of special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome Tharp; and two sisters, Berniece Farley and Joyce Scott.
