Ray spent almost 40 years at 3M in Decatur, where he made lifelong friends. All of his life involved farming cows. Driving his John Deere was also a highlight. Elkmont Lions Club provided one opportunity to help others, as well as spending summers working the Kiddie Carnival. He loved giving out chewing gum and a dollar bill to little ones in his life. He found joy helping others whenever he could. And he delighted in hearing a good joke, but he enjoyed telling one or a good story even more.
