Vernon Edward Hurn, 88 of Decatur, Alabama, died Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his residence.
 Mr. Hurn was born July 3, 1932 in Lauderdale County, he was a member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church. He was retired from the Morgan County Board of Education and he was a U.S. Airforce Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Services will be 1pm Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Elder Randy Dillon, Elder Ricky Harcrow and Elder David Guttrey officiating, burial in Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation is from 11am until service Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home.
Survivors: Wife, Mary Pratt Hurn of Decatur. Daughters, Gwendolen (Richard) Mallard of Decatur and Melanie (Clint) Lauderdale of Cullman. Grandchildren, Danielle (Gary) Cunningham of Lake Wales, FL.; Matthew Mallard of New Castle, Delaware, Nicholas (Alex) Mallard of Madison, AL, Benjamin Mallard of Huntsville, AL and Maghen Lauderdale of Cullman, AL. Great Grandchildren, Britt Cunningham, Ruth Cunningham, Rebecca Cunningham, Katherine Cunningham, Will Cunningham, Jon Cunningham, Knox Mallard and Carr Mallard. Several Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by Parents, Robert and Myrtle Hurn. Great Granddaughter, Abigail Cunningham. Sisters, Alene Stewart and Evelyn Morrison. Brother, Louie Hurn.
