Lula Mae Hovis Mrs. Lula Mae Hovis, 86, of Madison passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at her home. She was born in Limestone County, AL to the late James “Zander” Hodges and Susan Bates Hodges. She was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church and retired from Cox Corporation as a bookkeeper and also was a lifelong farmer’s wife. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Hovis Jr; a son, Gary Albert Hovis; and daughter-in-law, Judy Hovis; a sister, Marie Scruggs of Lakeland FL.
Survivors include her daughter, Myra Hovis Richardson (Ricky) of Madison, AL; grandsons, Jason Dupree (Tera) of Harvest, AL and Jordan Dupree of Madison, AL; a brother, James Hodges (Judy) of Harvest, AL; sister-in-law, Clarice Faye Thomas of Liveoak, FL; caregiver and loyal friend, Willie Mae Fletcher of Harvest, AL; Chipper, her companion dog; and a host of other loving family members and many friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Al Pihringer officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Garden. Pallbearers will be Mike Hodges, Scott Gwin, John Thomas, Scott Kochevar, Jeff Gibbs, and Keith Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Harvest Baptist Church Building Fund, Harvest Baptist Church, P.O. Box 330 Harvest AL, 35749.
