Camp CourageMONTGOMERY-On Wednesday, January 15, 2014 participants in the inaugural session of Camp Courage, a Helen Keller experience, travelled to Montgomery, where they were honored by Governor Bentley and state lawmakers.
The camp, which was held in October, was based at Ivy Green, the birthplace of Helen Keller.  At the camp, the campers, who are visually or hearing impaired, learned to use their abilities to overcome challenges and to make a difference in the lives of others, as Helen Keller did.
During the tribute to the campers, actors from “The Miracle Worker”, presented a scene from the famous play that is performed each summer at Ivy Green.

Local lawmakers from Colbert, Lauderdale and Franklin counties were on hand as the children received their honors from Governor Bentley.
