Jerry Ansel Gage passed away on June 4th, 2024. Jerry was born on December 31st, 1961 in Landstuhl Germany to John and Betty Gage. Growing up in a military family, Jerry lived all over the United States until his father retired in El Paso, TX, where Jerry attended Andress High School. After a semester of college, Jerry took a break to work in the oilfields, but decided to join the Army shortly after in 1982.

After training, Jerry became a specialist in nuclear weapons, and travelled across the United States and Europe. During this time, Jerry had three children and obtained an Associates Degree in General Studies. He was deployed to Bosnia, and after more training, he advanced to a Chief Warrant Officer 3. Jerry was involved with the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency’s Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and attended officer meetings in Greece and Norway. After 20 years of service, Jerry retired in Huntsville, AL in 2002. During his time in the Army he received numerous awards, medals, and campaign ribbons, and was also a member of the United States Field Artillery Association.

He was a life-long sports fan, and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry enjoyed running, golfing, fishing, and being with friends and family. He was very proud of his children and talked about them often. He had a big heart and would do anything for anybody.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharon Thomas-Gage; children, Harmon Gage, Jenny Gage, and Justin Gage; stepchildren Alana Pesce (Giancarlo) and Evan Blomeyer (Jessica); grandsons, Lars and Bear Blomeyer; siblings Debra, Don (Trish), and Tammie; and many more loving relatives. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Gage and mother, Betty Jean Gage.

Jerry’s last years were peaceful as he lived in the country with his loving wife and best friend, Sharon, in Toney, AL. Jerry had a big heart, loved God and his country, and would do his best to help anyone he could. He will be greatly missed but always in our hearts.

Visitation will be Friday, June 14, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL with a service at 4:00 p.m. He will be buried at the Alabama National Cemetery just outside of Montevallo, AL at a later date.
