Patti Bock James, follower of Jesus, beloved mother, master gardener, tympani player, and tennis enthusiast, gently passed away in her sleep on April 1, 2024. Throughout her life, she graced the community with her green thumb and gardens that bloom with beauty and life. She designed and helped construct the prayer gardens at Whitesburg Baptist Church. Patti was an artist and expressed her creativity through watercolors, oils and acrylics. Her passion for music resonated through her dedication as a tympani player in the church orchestra where her beats kept everyone wide awake during worship. She taught countless piano lessons at Excel School of Arts for over 20 years. In her free time, she found joy on the tennis court becoming a family activity. She authored the book “Best in Show” highlighting her love of dogs and obedience training practices.

She is survived by her amazing and angelic sister, Donna Ragland of Cincinnati, Ohio; her children, Ashley Ghattas, Jennifer Jaeger and Christopher Bock; grandchildren, Spencer and Brennan Ghattas, Lydia, Simon, Sarah and Tobin Jaeger, and Riley and Harrison Bock. She was preceded in her death by husbands, Bill Bock and Jack James.

The family invites friends and loved ones to the Prayer Gardens at the south campus of Whitesburg Baptist Church on Friday, April 5th at 5:30 p.m., with a reception following.

Jesus used Patti to make a difference in so many ways and will be dearly missed.

Alzheimer’s disease can steal lots of things, but it never stole her joy. So in lieu of flowers, we encourage you to do something you enjoy, paint a picture, plant a flower, or adopt a dog at a local shelter. That’s what Patti would want you to do.
