Ashley Lynn Newton McClung, 38 of Cherokee, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service followed at 2:00 p.m. with Tim Yarbrough officiating. Burial was in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Ashley was preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by her daughter, Gracie Yarbrough (Alex Vargas); sons, TJ Yarbrough, Cayson McClung; parents, Sherrie and Robert Newton; sister, Tonya Willis (Tony); grandchildren, Aiden and Haiden Vargas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ashley was a lifelong resident of Cherokee. She worked as a medical assistant at Shoals Primary Care and was of the Baptist faith. Ashley was a loving and devoted mother, and attended all of her children’s sporting events and activities. She loved fishing, singing, and going to the beach.
Pallbearers were Tony Willis, Tyler Willis, Randolph Speegle, Shane Holt, Daniel Bascomb, and Eddie Andrews. Honorary pallbearers were Christian Speegle, Clint Wallace, and Josh Cody.
