She grew up in Doty Chapel Baptist Church in Shannon, attended Plantersville United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of the Northeast Church of Christ for her final years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Larry McGaughy Mims, daughter Terri Leigh Mims Roberts of Plantersville, parents, Luke and Lucian (Hester) Wilson, and brothers, Orville, Maburn, Rex Wilson, along with her sister Jewell Wilson Sprayberry of Shannon, MS.
