Mrs. Paula Esta Starkey Cox passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by family.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 PM Wednesday, 2 August 2023 at Asbury Church, 980 Hughes Road, Madison, AL with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM.
Born in Russellville, AL, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herman Cox; parents, Ross Paul Starkey and Beulah Estalee Hall Starkey; and her sisters, Peggy S. Christian and Elizabeth Owen.
Survivors include her sister, Virginia Watkins; her daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Mitchell (Tim), and Connie Spears (Richard); son, Charles David Cox (Zack); grandchildren, Ross Spears (Harley), Haley Mitchell Findlay (Andy), Jordan Cox, Riley Spears, and Timothy Mitchell (Taylor); and her great-grandchildren, Lessie and Millie-Grace.
Mrs. Cox was a graduate of Huntsville High School and Birmingham-Southern College. She was a charter member of Asbury Church. She traveled the world as the wife of an Army Officer. This increased her love for travel. In her later years, she loved to travel with her sisters and her family, creating lots of cherished memories.
Mrs. Cox retired from the Social Security Administration in 2003 after 20+ years of service.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Cox’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
