Ronald Edward Smith, age 76 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville surrounded by his family. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 4, 1947, to the late Everette and Alma L. (Lyle) Gray. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a correctional officer for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and retired in 2009. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, taking trips to Destin, Florida and was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteers fan. Ron’s outgoing personality allowed him to never meet a stranger. He was a devoted man of Christian faith and a member of Keith Springs Mountain Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charissa Smith; and siblings, Michael Gray and Peggy Lassiter. Ron is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-five years, Linda Smith; children, Bruce (Mary) Smith, and Ronnie (Gary) Pacetti; grandchildren, Zach (Olivia) Smith, Montana Smith, Eric Pacetti, and Isaiah Smith; great-granddaughter, Juniper Smith; and nephew, Jeff (Jessica) Gray. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Zach Smith, Isaiah Smith, Troy Clark, Gary Pacetti, Eric Pacetti, and Jeff Miller serving as pallbearers.
