City Offices

City of Athens offices will be closed on Friday, July 4.

Sanitation

City of Athens sanitation routes will run as scheduled. Please have bins to the curb by 6 a.m.

Events

  • July 4ย โ€“ Red, White & Boom presented by Ramona Jโ€™s Restaurant and hosted by Athens-Limestone Tourism. Will be at the Athens Sportsplex from 5-10 p.m. No admission. Bring lawn chairs. Includes Battle of the Bands, food trucks, vendor fair and games.

  • July 4ย โ€“ Red, White & Boom Fireworks Spectacular sponsored by Tourism, City of Athens and Limestone County. Starts at 9 p.m. from the Athens High stadium. The stadium will not be open for seating because of proximity to fireworks. Please park in designated parking areas along U.S. 31, such as Athens Middle School, Swan Creek Park, Athens High, Sportsplex, etc. Some businesses allow spectators to park on site as well.

  • July 5ย โ€“ Art After Hours with JED-Eye and the Rocket City Starlets from 7-9 p.m. on Marion Street in Downtown Athens. A free Fourth of July weekend concert sponsored by Alabama Tourism through Sen. Tim Melson, City of Athens, Athens-Limestone Tourism and Morell Engineering. JED-Eye is a rock band that plays cover songs from classic rock to 90s rock โ€“ everything from CCR to ZZ Top and 3 Doors Down to Stone Temple Pilots. The Starlets will be in their patriotic finery dancing the night away, so bring your dancing shoes and join them. There will be an art station for kids that will have a patriotic craft, while supplies last.
