TUSCUMBIA-On Saturday, June 2, Spring Park in Tuscumbia will be filled with some of the greatest vehicles to ever roll off of an assembly line.

More than 300 vehicles are expected for the 47th annual Muscle Shoals Street Rod Run, which features all makes and models of cars and trucks made up until 1987. There is no charge to tour the vehicle display that gets underway at 8 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. It is one of the largest car shows in Alabama.

In recent years, vehicles had to be a 1972 model or older to compete. With this year’s show being expanded to include newer models, organizers said it could be their largest show ever.

Susann Hamlin, president and CEO of Colbert County Tourism Bureau, said the car show provides a big boost to the local economy. She said the auto enthusiasts stay at Colbert County hotels, eat at local restaurants and shop while they are in town for the show. A trolley will be available to shuttle the auto enthusiasts from Spring Park to downtown Tuscumbia and nearby attractions.
